Your information
Privacy Policy
A Red Screen is designed to be used without an account or an upload. This policy explains the limited information the site and its supporting services may handle.
Information you provide.
You can use the screen, fullscreen, brightness, cursor, session, and browser download features without giving us your name, email address, or other personal information.
If you email us, we receive the email address, message, and any information you choose to include. We use it to read and respond to your request and to investigate a reported issue.
Information handled by the tools.
The main tools run on your device. Brightness changes, fullscreen behavior, wake-lock requests, cursor preferences, and generated images are handled by your browser. Images generated by the download tool are created locally and are not uploaded to us.
The site stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage under ars-theme. This is a local preference, not an account or a cross-device profile. The site does not set advertising cookies.
Hosting and technical information.
Like most websites, the hosting and delivery infrastructure may process limited technical information when your browser requests a page. This can include an IP address, browser and device details, requested URL, referring page, and date and time. This information is generally used by the infrastructure provider for delivery, security, reliability, and abuse prevention.
A Red Screen does not use the screen tools to build a profile about you, and this site does not include its own analytics or advertising scripts.
Third-party links and services.
The site links to other colour-screen websites and may link to external services. When you follow an external link, that service receives your request and its own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites.
How information is used.
- To provide and maintain the website and its browser-based tools.
- To respond to emails, feedback, and support requests.
- To protect the site and supporting infrastructure from misuse.
- To understand and fix technical problems when necessary.
Retention and security.
Email correspondence may be kept for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, keep records, or resolve a request. Technical logs are controlled by the hosting and delivery providers and may be retained according to their policies.
No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. We take reasonable steps to limit the information handled by this site, but we cannot guarantee absolute security.
How the screen tools work.
The red and colour screens are rendered in the browser as part of the page. The page does not need to send your chosen colour, brightness level, fullscreen state, or cursor preference to an application server. The browser applies the visual changes to the local display. The same applies to the shade controls on the iPhone guide, which calculate the selected red value and its RGB components on your device.
The fullscreen feature uses the browser's fullscreen capability when available. The session option may request a screen wake lock so the device stays awake while the page is being used. These are browser permissions and device behaviors, not a separate profile about you. A browser may expose its own technical information when fulfilling a permission request, and those details are governed by the browser and operating system you use.
Downloads and local generation.
When you choose Download image, the page creates a simple colour image with browser APIs. The selected dimensions, format, and colour are used to draw the file locally. The file is then offered to your device as a download. A Red Screen does not receive the generated image and does not keep a copy of it on its own servers.
The downloaded file may be stored by your browser or device according to your own download settings. If you share, edit, or upload that file elsewhere, the service you choose will handle it under its own terms and privacy policy. The same principle applies if you take a screenshot or use the screen as part of another application.
Local preferences and browser storage.
The site may store the light or dark theme selection in local storage under ars-theme. Local storage is kept by your browser on the device and is not an A Red Screen account. It is not used to identify you across devices, and clearing site data or browser storage removes the preference. The screen tools do not need the preference to create a colour field or generate an image.
Private browsing, content blockers, strict browser settings, and device policies may prevent local storage or fullscreen from working. In that case the core page may still load, but a preference may not persist or a browser feature may be unavailable. Those settings are controlled by your device and browser, not by a personal record maintained by this site.
Cookies, analytics, and advertising.
A Red Screen does not set advertising cookies and does not include its own analytics or advertising scripts. The site does not use the red screen, the colour screens, or the image downloads to build an advertising profile. Hosting, delivery, security, or embedded browser features may have their own technical behavior, and the policies of those providers apply to information they process.
You can use standard browser tools to inspect, restrict, or clear cookies, local storage, permissions, and cached data. Blocking every storage or script feature may change how the site behaves. No account is required for the main utilities, so removing the local theme preference does not delete an online profile.
Emails and support requests.
If you send a message to the contact address, the email provider and mail systems involved will process the address, message, attachments, routing information, and timestamps needed to deliver it. We use the content to answer your question, investigate a bug, consider feedback, or handle an accessibility report. Please do not include passwords, financial information, identity documents, or other sensitive data that is not needed for the request.
If you report a technical issue, details such as your browser, device, operating system, requested page, and steps to reproduce it can help. Share only what you are comfortable providing. Email replies may be retained for as long as reasonably needed for support, records, or follow-up, subject to the practices of the mail provider.
Your choices and questions.
You can use the primary tools without an account, clear local storage and browser permissions through your browser settings, and avoid external links if you do not want another service to receive a request. If you contact us about email information, describe the request clearly and use the address below.
Privacy practices vary by location and provider. This policy describes the intended operation of A Red Screen; third-party providers have their own policies, which you should review when using their services.
Children's privacy.
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly request personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it.
Changes to this policy.
We may update this policy when the site or its data practices change. The effective date above will show when the latest version was published.
