Yellow is made from red and green light with blue almost off, so it is a good way to spot problems at the blue end. A stuck blue subpixel on a yellow field shows as a small pale or whitish dot, which is far easier to see than the same fault against white. A display with a cold calibration will make the yellow look greenish or washed out.
A bright, saturated field is also the fastest way to notice uneven brightness. Look for corners that are dimmer than the centre, a band across the middle, or a patch that shifts colour as you move your head. Compare what you see with the red screen, green screen, and blue screen before drawing any conclusion.
Warm colours contain much less blue energy than white or blue light at the same apparent brightness, which is the same reasoning behind the night modes built into phones and laptops. A dimmed yellow screen in the evening feels considerably calmer than a white page, and it does not wash a dark room in cold light.
Treat that as comfort rather than a health claim. Screen light still reaches your eyes and no web page can promise an effect on sleep or alertness. If you want to go further towards a low-blue surface, the orange screen is warmer still and the dark red screen is the traditional choice for keeping your eyes adapted to darkness.
